Mortal Shell 2 Iconoclast — Starter Weapon
Updated September 4, 2026 · Checked for the current launch build
Quick answer: Automatic with Harros in the prologue. It is not missable. Replace it only when another moveset solves a real problem — the starter shares the same upgrade system as the late weapons.

How to get The Iconoclast
- Receive Harros during the prologue. The Iconoclast is added when you rise in the Shell.
- Harros is lost at Marrow Keep. The weapon stays on the Harbinger.
- Upgrade it at Franz once the Muradean Actuator is installed. Do not sit on unspent Ventrium waiting for Axatana.
When to use it
- Usable speed-to-damage balance. Launch guides tell players not to restart looking for a better starter.
- Materials spent here are not wasted if you later smelt with the Foundry Stone.
Before you leave
- Harros is prologue-only. The Iconoclast is not.
All eight names: Axatana · Axe & Dagger · Veteran's Battle Axe · Great Martyr's Blade · Obsidian Hammer · Black Needle · Clockwork Scythe.

Frequently asked questions
Should I replace the Iconoclast immediately?
No. Replace it when Axe & Dagger or another moveset is in hand and upgraded enough to beat what you already swing.
