Mortal Shell 2 Prologue Walkthrough

Updated September 4, 2026 · Checked for the current launch build

Quick answer: The prologue hands you Harros, the starter weapon, and Nayleshotte. Two things are easy to miss forever on this save: the Mid Summer? festival interaction, and the scripted Tar Golem challenge for No, You Still Can't Win. Cleanse Village Outskirts for the Muradean Actuator before the keep, because that item turns the Tarforge on.

First minutes

  1. When you gain control, take the open gate left of the house for the Trollweed, then turn around into Forlorn Village.
  2. Speak with Daisy if you want the hint, then go through the next gateway.
  3. You will drop into a dreamlike communion with the UnderMether. Walk forward, wait out the speech, and interact with the kneeling knight to obtain Harros.
  4. The Iconoclast and Nayleshotte come with this loadout. You will replace both later; do not restart looking for a "better starter."

Do these before the chapter closes

These two trophy interactions do not come back on the same save if you skip them here.

Into Marrow Keep

Once the Tar Golem sequence ends, Harros is gone. The keep is the rest of the game's hub: Zhirelle, Franz, Merrick, Milos, Genessa, and the roof pads. Read Marrow Keep NPCs before you launch north or south. North is Widow's Overlook. South is Mammon, and it is a later power check.

Turn on Auto Pick Up Gold and Action camera before the first overworld hour. Those toggles live on settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get Harros back after the prologue?

No. Harros is lost at the end of the prologue as part of the story. Zhirelle marks Tiel and Proxima as your first permanent Shells. Harros does not count toward Shell Seeker.

What is missable in the Mortal Shell 2 prologue?

Mid Summer? is a festival interaction during this chapter. No, You Still Can't Win is tied to the scripted Tar Golem sequence. Both are listed as missable on current trophy roadmaps — do them before the sequence closes.

Where is the Muradean Actuator?

Inside the Village Outskirts Beacon dungeon on the tutorial / Forlorn Village route. Cleansing that Beacon is on the critical path; the chest is not hidden behind a later region.
