Quick answer: From Blackridge Pass, break the wooden arch, look through the illusion gate, ride the lift, take the Damp Key from the torch-lit house, and open the chapel. Splitting Stone is the usual first Tarstone; Volatile Fragment if you want exploding kills.

How to get Forgotten Crossbow
- Start at Blackridge Pass Beacon. The sealed stone doorway is fake until you break the wooden slats on the nearby arch and look through that illusion gate.
- Ride the elevator down. Mark the locked chapel door on the right before the first wooden stairs.
- Optional: kill the Flooded Village Grisha for a Remnant and a Synaptic Vessel.
- Climb to the elevated house with two torches. The Damp Key is on a crate around the rear porch.
- Open the chapel. The Forgotten Crossbow is on the table. A return portal usually appears after the pickup.
When to use it
- First real ranged sidearm after the prologue Nayleshotte. Used immediately to snipe Netopyrs and shoot plates, distant Gloom, and offering candles.
- Sportskeeda's default crossbow stone is Splitting Stone: extra projectiles per shot with no extra Resolve, scaling toward four shots when fully upgraded.
- Volatile Fragment makes ranged kills explode. Barrage Stone (Gloomshade trial) and Myriad Stone appear in other pairing tables.
Before you leave
- Merrick can mark a map; the exact door still needs the Damp Key.
- The Grisha is optional for the crossbow. Unequip any remnant before Zmey.
