Mortal Shell 2 How to Revive Your Shell

Quick answer: When the Shell breaks you become the Harbinger. Keep landing melee hits until the Shell icon on the lower right hits 100%, then press the revive prompt (Y on Xbox, Triangle on PlayStation, Z on default PC). Resting at a Beacon also puts you back in the Shell and resets the rising cost.

Two ways back into the Shell

MethodWhat it doesUse it when
Melee until 100%Fills the Shell icon, then a swirl prompt appearsYou still have enemies to hit and the room is not lethal
Rest at a BeaconRespawns you inside the Shell and resets revive costThe room is too dangerous, or the meter is taking forever

RPS is explicit: every mid-fight revival demands more bloodshed than the last. Resting at a Beacon is the only confirmed reset. Do not treat the Harbinger as a second health bar — it is a recovery state.

PC keyboardCommunity tables list Z as Shell Revive. Check Options if it does nothing.
The prompt only appears at 100%. Hitting enemies before that only fills the bar. If you are mashing Y/Z and nothing happens, the meter is not full yet.

What to do as the Harbinger

  1. Dodge. You lose Shell abilities and most of the kit. Mobility is the defense.
  2. Chip one enemy at a time. The meter only moves on melee contact, not on sidearm fire.
  3. Revive the moment the swirl appears. Waiting is how people die as the Harbinger.
  4. If you die as the Harbinger you respawn at the last tagged Beacon and must corpse-run for dropped Gloom.

Higher Shell Bond improves revive health and efficiency. That is one reason Bond 1 on your main Shell is worth an early Glimpse.
